  • Amazing game but no 60 FPS

This is the greatest horror game ever made. Alien isolation was to 2014 what Silent hill 2 was to 2001. It deserves a sequel or a remake. I bought the game on PC, Playstation 4, Xbox series X, Nintendo switch, and now Mac. The soul of the game is still there with all the DLC. So why do I give it 4 stars instead of 5? There’s 2 reasons. I have the most recent Macbook air but it doesn't run at 60 FPS mode like does for Xbox and PC. The second reason is that my purchase doesn’t transfer over to the iPhone and iPad versions. Those versions are another $15 but I paid $40 for the Mac version and it doesn’t rollover to the iPhone and iPad ecosystem. That’s not cool. I want to be clear, I’m speaking as a fan and not a troll. If you think my criticism is unfair then let me know.

This app isn't ported to Apple Silicon. Ran on a 14" Macbook Pro with 32 gigs of ram with 16 graphic cores and ran like flaming garbage. App obviously has not been ported to Apple Silicon, so the app is translated first. Not worth the money until the developer ports it to Apple Silicon, I am getting a refund.

  • Really wanted to like it - but a fatal flaw...

Read reviews. Looked good. Got it. Playing on Macbook Pro with trackpad was hard. Player seemed to adhere to the walls a bit and the tracking would not responds without lots of overcorrection. Changed to a mouse - issue was resolved mosty. Now the flaw. You never ever get your game saved without manually saving it - no matter how many missions you complete. It is possible to almost complete the game and lose everything. I read the developer's rationale for this. Seemed ok until i realized that completing a missiong is not an autosave. This blows hard. Lost 1.5 hrs of hard work. Deleting this game now. You've been warned.

After purchasing the game on xbox one with all DLC, I just recently found the game on mac, and thought it would never run, but when i loaded the game in full form, everything was smooth and worked perfectly, I did see a review about the noise being loud, you can adjust ingame settings to where all noise is lowered but also high enough to hear eveything, also having a good headset could be part of that issue as well, but not everyone can just buy a good head set but most affordable ones are around $30 that are decent for audio, the point is its a great game and DLC is amazing, worht every penny!!!

Everything about this game captures the fear, dread, and survival instinct of the original Alien movie. Attention to detail is what makes this game shine. You can’t go in with guns blazing; you have to be more resourceful and smarter than that. Each gaming session left my adrenaline set to 11. For me, this is an example of masterful game design for the FPS genre (with less emphasis on the shooting part). You still get to blow things up, though!

Thank you, Feral, for bringing such a great adventure to the Mac! I enjoyed the great combination of adventure, stealth, and FPS. Yes, it was hard sometimes, but the save points get more frequent in the later chapters of the story, which made it less frustrating. My audio may be different than others, but the beep of the save stations was not intrusive. Rather, it was a great relief to hear that there was one nearby! There are some surprises, and even some humor. Fortunately, I could laugh out loud without the monster or a synthetic hearing me. Even some failures are (sort of) fun. It has been a long time since I have felt exhilaration like I did when yanked from my hiding place because I wasn’t being quiet enough! I’m using a Macbook Pro 2015, and I did choose to run at less than max graphics resolution in order to keep it very responsive, since quick, precise action is sometimes needed. It still looked great and was fully enjoyable despite some frustrating stretches. It was hours of immersive fun and excitement. I took a chance, paying a fairly high price for it, but it was worth every penny.
