Description

Before you buy, please expand this description and check that your computer matches or exceeds each of the requirements listed. THRONES OF BRITANNIA is a standalone Total War game that challenges you to re-write a critical moment in history, one that will shape the future of the British Isles. With ten playable factions, you must build and defend a kingdom of Anglo-Saxons, Gaelic clans, Welsh tribes or Viking settlers. Forge alliances, manage settlements, raise armies and pursue campaigns of conquest across the most detailed Total War map ever. The year is 878 AD, the embattled English king Alfred the Great has mounted a heroic defence at the battle of Edington, and blunted the Viking invasion. Chastened – but not yet broken – the Norse warlords have settled across Britain. For the first time in nearly 80 years, the land is in a fragile state of peace. Throughout this sceptred isle, the kings of England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales sense a time of change approaching; a time of opportunity. There will be treaties. There will be war. There will be turns of fortune that become the stuff of legend, in a saga that charts the ascent of one of history’s greatest nations. I only put four stars because the gameplay is solid. The battles are fun. I've only played for a handful of hours but so far, once you get the hang of it, it becomes a lot easier. The biggest issues I have with the game is mostly technical issues. The game crashes randomly even with my 2021 macbook pro. Sometimes it can run the game for hours, other times, specific actions like selecting armies from the army pulldown menu just crashes the game. Many times, it's simply random. Pretty annoying but it's not horrible because the autosaves are pretty frequent so I only lose about a couple minutes of time when and if the game crashes. If the crashes become more frequent, I would put the game at like a 2-3 star rating but as of now, the gameplay saves the game from it's tech issues.

THIS GAME IS BS. My computer is perfectly capable of running the game and yet it crashes every time after saying it doesn’t meet the requirements. I WANT A REFUND.

Even after the updated on Sept 3, the game is still so cumbersome and cluttered and generally counter-intuitive I just don’t dig playing it. It feels like a hassle to play even short times. I wish they’d stuck to the Rome 2 model but I guess everything has to change sometime.

I don’t understand why my new MacBook Pro in this year actually isn’t able to run the game. I wonder whether the game is or isn’t lack of some documents or a few data. In right now, I still do not know other clients can play the enjoyable game.

I have played every Total War game, but have I written reviews on them? No, haha. But I do love Total War, but I fealt like the battle mechanics and graphics were far more superior on the last games like Rome Total War, Empire Total War, Medieval 2 Total War, etc. I am just trying it out and will write another review later, but I am somewhat disappointed by the unit sizes in “create battle” mode, I also have had difficulty playing Multiplayer where the game will automatically close out (yes I know it just launched so I am not mad or upset one but, just pointing it out). But I think that the units are very small on such large maps, idk if this is because of my computer or not, but I thought it was far easier to see and place and perform unit actions like “use fire” or any other specified actions when it comes to attacks. I still can’t wait to try the campaign, I have heard and seen it is far different from the past where you could stack up a huge army and you now win the campaign without any food, economic (once you really get it going), or even difficulties ruling your people because of having large forces. But I would like to hear from Feral why they’ve made unit to map sizes far more different from the past games. Thank you Feral and anyone who has read my first review of this very good, but somewhat skeptical game. P.S. I would LOVE!!! To do a proper review and gameplay on YouTube and on Twitch if I only had a proper PC to run the programs and the game on, but I would still recommend any of the Total War games out to my Twitch followers and my friends. Thanks Feral for all you’ve done and stay beautiful! <3
