Works ok, but only in the house within range of the modern. Your out of luck if you are away from home with time to kill and want to watch a tv program. I have televisions to watch at home, if the modem drops both are out.

The app is terrible and you can no longer stream any continent, recorded or live from your mobile device. I will be switching to spectrum as a result.

I have been trying this service for about 14 months. Sparklight Streaming is inconsistent on my TVs, iPad and IPhone .I constantly receive connection error messages to include “must be in the home to watch this” but my internet is not the problem. All my other apps operate, just fine without any interruptions. Moving on to a better and more reliable option:
  • Barely works.

App keeps losing connection to networks. Doesn’t work on Fire TV Stick, iPhone or iPad on your own home wifi. It doesn’t let one restart a program. When watching a show it restarts after getting two thirds through it. Overall this is a poorly developed app and needs to go back to the drawing board. With as much as you pay to watch cable tv with this app you think it would work. App still not working on iPhone as of 18 April 2023 and barely working on the other platforms. If possible I would rate it zero stars.
  • Switching to Dish

We were told Sparklight was switching all TV to this app. I was super supportive. We have 1tb download speed. The app has been garbage regardless the streaming device we play it on. It freezes, gives a dumb bee bob error message and tries to say “it’s probably your internet” which by the way is offered by Sparklight. So, to test it I open three other streaming apps that work flawlessly like Hulu. Even in 4K they work awesome. Sparklight does not deserve a TV business if it can’t invest in the basics of streaming stability. Do yourself a favor, until they fix it, choose another TV service. I am a digital app expert and know the real problem is an under invested app.
  • Very unstable

This app is very unstable. Over an hour it may pause several times. Might even exit to having to open app again or get a screen that says “bebop bee bop something went wrong”. Sound will cut out for a couple seconds. No where near as user friendly as the box. I use Apple TV as my platform. I get 450 mbs cable speed. I get same issues on 2 TV’s; one direct cable connection the other Wi-Fi. I don’t have any of these issues with other apps i.e. Prime, HBO max, Netflix etc. I’m going to try Apple TV which has all but 1 Channel I watch. Sparklight TV app needs serious work. I can’t imagine HBO max releasing such junk as this.

I am now getting the same error as others claiming I am not at home. I have not changed anything. It’s way overpriced for the quality you get. I am hardwired and I get lots of claims I am not connected to the internet when none of my other apps on Apple TV have issues. Not worth the money very disappointing
  • Nice features with poor performance and ease of use

I’m not happy that Sparklight forced this change on us. The fire stick was so full of bloatware that was not removable and confusing that I bought an Apple TV for my elderly parents. Changing channels is ridiculous. Trying to explain the steps to my elderly parents has proven futile and now I have to set the channel for them. Streams get stuck at least once every hour or two. Lock ups can be fixed by switching back & forth to another channel or some other ways. My previous cable TV service never did this. It costs more, I didn’t ask for this and the ‘added’ features. No local recording like I had with my old cable card set up. Current time isn’t displayed until you get into the guide. I was watching the SImpsons and now have several Simpsons episodes that pop up as recently watched, no easy way to get rid of them. That only confuses what is live tv and what isn’t. I had been using Channels.app and didn’t realize how spoiled I was. I set it to ‘record’ our local PBS news program, detail looked crushed by compression vs when I recorded it locally. Simple TV watching is now complicated and unreliable. The added features are nice but I’d happily give them up to have my old cable back and local recording using Emby and live TV using Channels. Never should have been a price increase for this decrease in service.
  • Useless

We have this app on all our Firesticks to access what little bit of local cable channels we are still paying for. It keeps telling us we are not home and we can only watch recorded shows away from home. We reverify that it is logged in to our home network and nothing changes…Useless piece of crap that we have spent our hard earned $$ trying to make work for a month now! No more, cutting cable completely. We can more reliably watch live local news through the ABC, CBS, and NBC apps.
