Strategic and creative masterpiece

As a long-time player, I fully recommend this game.
I hear a lot of reviewers claiming it’s very p2w, the algorithms are bad, and that “Hunter island better!!!”
I wasn’t around at Hunter Island, but first of all, it isn’t p2w.
I admit: awakening is stupid. You have to roll a 0.008% chance four times (or 0.75% four times, depending on what banner there is that week) to get the most powerful monsters, and you can pay to get that easily.
However, if I had a nickel for every time my modest team of ultra evolved, not awakened, mythics and legendaries beat a team of awakened monsters, I’d have at least enough money to buy the x50 eggs. All you have to do is work for your legends and organize them in a smart way so they compliment each other.
There’s a reason I call this game super “strategic:” with the right combination of monsters, you can come out on top of tons of battles. Take my team, for example, which uses Necromancy combos with Atrahasis to gain battlefield control, and The Rockoid and, the evolution of that mythic bear to throw and replenish rockoids at the start of the battle.
Even more evidence it isn’t p2w: there’s literally free mythics every year with NEO tickets! If you want a ice dragon, or a fire dragon, just wait and get it or wait for a featured banner!
PvP may be distressing for newer players, but all they need to do is just think about their lineup and how the passives and moves of their monsters affect their other monsters.
And yes, this game is creative. So, so, creative.
SPOILER WARNING
The offline story is rather interesting: your trying to become Champion like in the Pokémon games, and you must defeat several islands and league trainers. The islands have brilliant risk-reward functions built into them, such as temples that could waste time and deplete your teams health, but yield powerful monsters for the stage if you complete them.
The main antagonist dude is also challenging to fight throughout the story, and it really feels like you both grow by the end of the league story, especially with his fully evolved Nighthorse or whatever.
League story. Emphasis on that.
After that, you quash the Elite Four, sorry, Grand Four, and then defeat Beritus! Roll the credits!
Oh yeah, then you gotta murder a Atrahasis boss who literally kills you if you lose. Have fun with that one.
Then, aliens invade through a different dimension and you must fight them off, and this is why it’s 4 stars:
The Khanate have BUFFED MONSTERS.
If you had the same team as the Khanate warrior your fighting, they’d still win! Their monsters stats are hugely inflated to try and get you to grind out mythics or pay into it. Welp, more revival combos for me.
Anyways, you somehow squash the Khanate, destroy a literal Death Star weapon, and murder some maggot legendary or something, and then your done.
Right?
Right?
NOPE. Then you have the online story, which I’ve been on for so long I forgot the entire plot. Hehe… but it’s still pretty challenging, but it still has buffed monsters like the Khanate invaders.
Now, the last section of my incredibly long review:
The monsters themselves.
The “Others” (under 4 star) monsters aren’t thaaat creative, but honorable mention to:
Moji and Mojincess, who if combined can turn into a legendary monster,
Nighthorse and NightKnight or something, combined can also become legendaries!
Rockoid and all his buyable with tickets friends,
and obviously Yuki, the best snowflake ever to exist.
4 stars, still boring, not even an honorable mention,
5 stars, meh, but Galaction is the bomb.
6 stars! Finally!
The pinnacle of strategy!
Sanctallion, The Godfeather, Atrahasis, Kamiwyrm.
So many legendaries have so much synergy potential with other monsters! Atrahasis is a wild card for revival combos, Kamiwyrm is essentially the protector murderer, Godfeather is very situational but OP if he can use Last Bite, and Sanctallion is essentially a pony monster.
Not only are the legendaries concepts great, their use in battle is also fantastic!
Oh. The 7 stars.
Still pretty cool, for the first few pages of the 7 star monster dex. Auraleus, Brynhilder, all sorts of cool monsters!
Nothing could go wrong in this FABULOUS lineup, right?
Right?
Well, yes, yes they could. Boom, humanoid mythics.
And, um… blech. Get rid of them and replace them! They are disgusting and not to be in a 9+ game, but their concepts are too good to be ditched! Reskin them or something!
Okay, long timer signing off!
