I use this app for keeping a digital journal. It’s so easy to use, and it automatically maintains a chornological order of your journals. Of course I don't use this to write my academic papers, freelance articles, because I use a more powerful editing tool such as microsoft word for those, but this has been a reliable, distraction-free digital journaling system that I’ve been using since 2011. It’s an excellent app for what it does.
  • Good app but want more

I bought this app hoping that I would have the ability to import entries from a different application that I had been using for years. Unfortunately, at this time, Memoires does not offer that. I have sent them a support email about this and have not heard back from them about it. It’s a decent app, but not worth the $28 I paid for it.

The design of this is simple and elegant - not overly busy - I really like it lot! The ability to have multiple journals and entries are awesome. Since getting this app, I’ve been journaling daily. I’ve tried throughout my life to journal on paper and on the computer with no success before I bought this app. This program is a great way to start off and end your day.

Overly simplistic and won’t save entries. I want my money back.

Just purchased this and haven’t started officially using just yet, but I can’t seem to find a way to have it auto link to iPad/iPhone. I plan to use this to not only write about the day, but also track spending, foods eaten, etc. So, much of this will be when I’m away from my Mac. Would like to see Memoires for other devices that would sync.

I bought this app a couple of years ago and have used it every so often as I also write in an actual journal. The app is fine for what it does but other users who have said that it's not that much different than keeping numerous Word/Pages documents have a point. Of course, this app allows you to passord protect access to the app and the entries which is much easier than having to password protect each file. So, it has it's basic functions but what is more concerning is that there is still no iPad or iPhone app. I emailed the developer some time ago and asked about this and he said that it was in production. However, there's still no updates or "coming soon" information on the site. Furthermore, other people have made this same comment on the develper's site and the developer never commented upon them. I'm getting the feeling that this is about it for Memoires so I'm going to say goodbye and move to Day One. For 15$ you can get the Mac app and the iPhone/iPad app where everything is sync'd via iCloud or Dropbox. Of course, there are known security access issues (just check out the reviews on iTunes) but I have my computer and Dropbox account nice and tight on that end. So, I'm not too worred about it. So, if you're looking for a computer journal and will never want a companion app, then this one is good and has good security. Probably gonna be on par with Day One though, the security issue that reviewers have noted might influence your prefernece. For me, journaling from multiple devices is what I really and I've given them plenty of time.

I love the app. I use it frequently. What I would love (in addition) 1) Tumblr integration! It would be sweet to be able to write a journal and have the option to post to tumblr (+other 3rd party websites)
  • Bug found

I found a bug. I downloaded this app and it was automatically opened right after downloading was completed. I wrote a simple diary but couldn't save it. Then I closed with not saving. "Save" and "Save As" didn't work. Then I re-ran the app and typed and saved. Then it worked… so if any of you have the same problem do not be panic and just copied the word somewhere and re-open the app. Then you will be fine.
  • A Good Basic Journaling Program

I've been a longtime user of Chronories, which is an excellent journaling program for the Mac. However, I was disappointed when I learned that I couldn't export my journals in any other format except for the program's proprietary format. If something happened to the program or my hard drive, all of my entries would be lost. The deciding factor came when I tried to update the program from my computer and it wouldn't. It was time for a more basic journaling program. I never used all the bells and whistles, anyway. I found Memoires in the App Store and decided to give it a try. So far, I'm enjoying it. The interface is simple. There are no distracting elements, such as weather or music. I can write as many entries as I want each day, which is great because I like to write in different categories (i.e., life, work, news, etc.). I also started using this program to create To Do lists. Memoires will let you export your entries in four formats: RTFD, RTF, TXT, and PDF. The RTFD exports with the images intact, as does the PDF. You can export individual entries, a specific date range, or your entire journal. The only thing I feel that needs improvements is the photo placement. While I can drag and drop photos and wmv videos into the entry, I haven't figured out a way to resize them or format them so that the text wraps around the image. That would be a cool feature to have. I also liked the easy password system, which allows me to lock my journal. However, I would like to have it lock when I'm not using it after a certain period of time. As of this date, I have to quit the program and enter the password to access my journal. A "log out" feature would be nice. If you're looking for a basic journaling program, give this a try. You can go to the developer's website and download a free trial.
