Description

Hat Monkey is a small monkey with a hat who needs our help around the house. Young children will find the objectives satisfying as they help Monkey do everyday things they cannot yet do themselves, like turning off lights, opening the door for him, turning the pages of his bedtime book or sending text messages. They can also speak with him on the phone, and play music or simple games like hide and seek. The beautiful simplified graphics and interactions allow even the youngest children to identify what Monkey wants, to empathise with him, and learn how they can help him. Chris Haughton’s award-winning books ‘A Bit Lost’, ‘Oh No, George!’ and ‘SHH!, we have a plan’ have been translated into over 20 languages around the world. Instead of adapting his books, Hat Monkey was conceived and designed from the start as a stand alone app with engaging interaction at its core. • Meh. Wish I could get my money back.

This app is cute enough but offers shockingly little for its $2.99 price. The best Fox & Sheep apps are only $1.99 so I was very disappointed to see that my daughter had seen everything and was bored after less than 10 minutes. With no voice over children who can't read don't know they are being instructed to do, and even with my help it just didn't hold their interest. Can I get my money back please? :(

I downloaded this app a long time ago and it has been a hit with my two year old son for months. He loves the hide and seek game, feeding the monkey bananas, and giving the monkey a high five. The whole time he has this app on, he just giggles nonstop. My only issues are: there is a bit of reading for a child under five so that they know what to do with each stage (this could easily be fixed by adding a VoiceOver option). It is easy to click over to the next stage accidentally. Some of the stages, like sending a text, seem to go over his head. I'm sure that will change as he gets older, though. Overall I'm glad I downloaded this app!

This is darling. There's so much to talk about if an adult and child do this together (e.g., where do you think the monkey will hide next?). Great that it can be used with so many languages, too - I will be able to use it in my work with young children.
  • Poor app

This is another Fox and Sheep app that just isn’t up to par with the standards of their older apps. Nighty Night and Little Fox Music Box (plus the Petting Zoo app) all shine with beautiful artwork and rich user experiences. This app is just terrible, and I regret purchasing it. My little one of 3 years had very little interest, and there’s very little it does, with no room to “think outside the box”, just rote repetitive minimal interactions (coupled with simplistic, garish artwork).
  • Not this one

We're big fans of the other apps by Fox & Sheep but this one came off a bit more creepy. Most of the other apps have a lot of charm in the design and art direction but not this one.

My 3 year old daughter loves this app and cracks up at almost every activity. I can't recommend this highly enough!

This set of simple interactive activities will charm and engage any toddler. The brightly colored monkey from Chris Haughton's Hat Monkey picture book comes right to life, ready to make you and your children smile.
  • Not much for the money

NOT a "must have". That is clearly not from a consumer...my child (4) lost interest in about 10 minutes. Pretty repetitive and each scene is preceded by text...which he can't read...for a pay-for ap, really not worth it...You can only "find the monkey" in the same 3 places so many times before you lose interest. The zoo one they make is much more entertaining for kids.
  • Waste of money

This app does very little. For hiding monkey only goes behind a chair and a couch once. There is no variety. Very poor app and a waste of money.

While this is a cute game, it requires someone to read every other screen to the child. Why are the instructions not verbal? Children under the age of 5 (the target audience) can't read! However, my 4 year old grandson loved it!
