  • Where is BBC World Service?

I upgraded as the Beeb recommended, and I am not impressed. The front page no longer has a listen link for the World Service. Let’s get that fixed!
  • Update ruined the app

Used to be a great source of world news. The new layout and update makes it a jumbled mess. Completely unusable now. Used to go on the app almost daily, now I go just enough to remind me how horrible the new BBC is. Likely uninstalling soon
  • Looks like the BBC is in mourning

    Newly designed website is horrible

BBC news was a great app. A few stories under each heading, then if you want more of that topic, click the topic. No more. Plus the black looks so ominous. I wonder if the app development company is the same one that destroyed the Sirius/XM app?
  • Hate the new look

I used to enjoy BBC app, but the latest update is horrible. I miss the red and white logo. The site seems disjointed and difficult to navigate. Deleting BBC and will just use Sky News now for news from home.
  • How could you forget to include Zoom on your photos?

You’re a professional app developer. How could you overlook something as basic as this. The simple act of being able to zoom zoom in on photos is probably 25% of the enjoyment of reading the stories.
  • Deleted app after latest update

They now want your info in order to see the news or you have to each time opt out. No thanks. Can get my new directly with one click from other sources w/o all this hassle.
  • Terrible

Very poor coding. Not able to enlarge photos to view more easily. Log in page appears every-time app starts. Uk news appears least important. Very poor English in most articles.
  • Great content, terrible UI

Edit 01May2024 It seems to get worse with new updates. Push to create an account? Not respecting my settings by running ads with audio when my volume is set to “off”? I guess all good things come to an end, and it’s about time to end my relationship with BBC. Thanks for the past 50 good years. BBC has been one of my preferred news services since before they stopped SW radio service. Because of my respect for the organization, I looked in the app “Contact the BBC” area to try to provide feedback directly to BBC rather than publicly. I found many FAQ links, but no ready means to “contact” BBC. Have your developers forgotten the meaning of English words? So, public it is. The app UI prior to the March 2024 update worked reasonably well-a good and not overwhelming number of top news stories were summarized, with heading information about subcategories given (Sciences/tech, Business, US/Canada, etc.) to help provide mental context and prioritize reading order. I generally knew how “long” the page was and where I was on that page as I scrolled. I find this new UI a huge turn for the worse in usability. Information organization is much harder to interpret, the “long sausage” design scrolls far too long with no hints on where I am on the page, and using the app to read the news is now burdensome. I’m all for change when there is legitimately something to fix, or something new and useful to provide, but to me this app update accomplishes neither of those and is instead a giant backwards step. Please focus on content and delivering that content in a way that your audience wants to use, rather than on some misguided belief that a claim of “modern UI” actually benefits the user.
