Matter is one of them.” –Calvin French-Owen “Move to @matter and make yourself happy. Better discovery than Pocket or Instapaper, export to Readwise, Kindle, Obsidian, will read posts aloud, tagging, the most buttery highlighting experience. It’s amazing.” –Anthony Baker “Every year I'm continually surprised by how much great, new software there is. Subtle, but important variations on old problems done really, really well. Some recent favorites: @matter…” –Sean Rose “@matter has been my new favorite app for months. If you read online (yes, that's you and you and you), get this app. Gorgeous on the iPad. Friendly on the iPhone. And now on my laptop, too? I can hardly take it. Just stop...but don't.” –G. Marie “Only 12 fixed apps get Home Screen placement. Nice work, Matter. You’ve clawed your way there. Product fits better and better.” –Robert Stephens

  • Captures articles through proxy servers

I'm in academia and have access to lots of sites through a proxy server. Pocket and Instapaper don't seem to be able to handle these, but Matter does! I just signed up for the paid version, and I'm liking the Send to Kindle. Would love to see automation of tagging, or creation of folders.

When adding the Matter safari extension to the safari toolbar, a large space is added to the left of the icon. I have no idea what's going on there.

I left Instapaper for Pocket, and now I left POcket for Matter. The killer feature is the tex-to-speech feature, which I use when walking, driving, etc. It's a great way to catch up on articles you didn;t have time to read on a screen, whether latptop, tablet, or phone. The abililty to add tags, make highlights, add notes, export to Kindle, and export highlights to Notion are also great bonuses for my workflow. Best read-it-later app so far!

What an awesome app! I didn't even know I needed it. I consolidated all of my readings from Wikipedia, Google Chrome, Safari, etc. into Matter! Highly recommended!!!

Upgraded to the latest version and found the icon on Safari toolbar has changed to a black-backgrounded one. Loved the old "M" style and it worked great with Safari white and dark mode. The new one is, soo weird.

This is not really a useful app at the moment. I can save a web article to Matter with the browser extension, but that is all I can do with it on my browser. If I want to read it, or highlight it, and/or sync it with a destination, e.g., Obsidian, I have to locate the article in my iOS Matter app > Queue, highlight it, and tap “sync to furthest read.” Too much trouble to use it as it is right now.
  • Can't read saved articles on a Mac

The developers have some great ideas about making a reading app, but it blows my mind that one cannot read saved articles on a Mac, through an app or through the web. One cannot even see a list of the saved articles. I cannot fathom the priorities that lead to this situation. As someone who wants to read things later, and is sometimes using a computer later, this app is the least functional reading app I've ever used. The only thing one can do other than save from a Mac is to toggle a reader mode view (which doesn't allow highlighting or viewing highlights you made elsewhere) and that reader view is hidden behind a keyboard shortcut. I can say that it does work on some pages that Safari's reader view doesn't work on, so there's that.
  • Doesn't show up in the extension list

As titile says, don't know what's happening here but the main app works well.
