First and foremost id like to say just buy it use it. If you dont like it you can always return it and get a full refund. 10 outta 10 very useful app. It helps me keep my mac to the side of ma table while i use my monitor. I was considering the other insomnia app thats cheaper than this but thank my head for leading me to make the right desition, oh and also desregard the first sentence i wrote.

  • Works but 1 major flaw

It works. It prevents my mac from sleeping, when the lid is closed. HOWEVER, I have an external display connected, and the macbook in a dock. The macbook display/monitor is still active, so if I open a file, or an app and it opens on the macbook's monitor, I have to take it out of the dock, open the lid, then move it. I expected this to work for $31!

This was the only utility/app I found that kept my laptop awake when I closed the lid - important for keeping huge and slow downloads active!
  • Does what it says

It does exactly what it says -- prevents the Mac from going to sleep. In my context, I had a KVM switch hooked to the mac. Before I go the app, I had a problem that background processes would stop working as the Mac went to sleep. App prevents the sleep, allowing processes to continue. Only 4 stars because it doesn't prevent the mac from stopping sending video -- so when I do come back, it takes several seconds for the video to kick back in, which will also cause some strange states within the window manager. You also need to disable password protection on lock screen, but that works fine for my current usage.

My hope was that is was like the old Insomniac app, unfortunately it drains your batttery life and your screen still goes to sleep, and then locks you out so you can't wake your system up. IT completely worthless and I'm dissapoointed that I spent $7.99 on it!! I hope Pawan is happy with stealing people's money!!

after downloading this app and realizing it did nothing that i couldnt already do under the power settings on my laptop, I asked for a refund. No such luck. Don't waste your money. Update: Developer responded months later stating that my review was not helpful. App has been uninstalled because it served no purpose beyond standard Mac OS features. Still no offer to refund or improve app to provide some kind of benefit.
  • Works...with a cavaet. - UPDATE

UPDATE - New version fixed the lid sleep issue. I downloaded this on two of my MacBook Pros, both running Mojave. It works on one but not the other for Lid Sleep. I suspect the reviewer seaiamthat experienced the same issue. Here is the reason, I suspect. The computer this app doesn't prevent lid sleep from working has my companies security policy. If your computer came from your job, it likely has a security policy applied preventing you from changing many settings, like sleep, password removal or never sleep. The app works as advertised on my personal Macbook Pro. I don;t believe any app can override the security policies, if applied to your system.

This app places an icon in the menu bar, which, when clicked, opens a pop up menu offerieng the following: Don’t Sleep, Smart, Allow lid sleep, Left click to enable, Launch at Login, and Quit. The app does not work for me using macOS High Sierra Version 10.13.6; Processor: 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7; Memory: 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3; Late 2011 MacBook Pro even though the ad claims compatibility with OS X 10.10 or later 64 bit
