Description

A game by The Chinese Room The year is 1962 and NASA are trying to put a man on the moon. In a remote corner of Siberia, a Soviet cosmonaut is heading in the other direction. Comrade Ivan Ivanovich is dropped into an extinct volcano in his exploration capsule, Little Orpheus, to explore the center of the earth. He promptly vanishes. Three years later he emerges claiming to have saved the world. He has also lost the atomic bomb powering the Little Orpheus. He is taken to a top secret bunker deep below the Ural mountains to be debriefed by the fearsome General Yurkovoi, a man so frightening even Stalin won’t buy him a drink. The General rolls up his sleeves, fixes Ivan with a steely glare and say “So... where have you been comrade? And where is my bomb?” And Ivan looks him right back in the eye and says “Well General, you might not believe what happened to me, but I’ll do my best. Because it happened like this...” Join our bold yet hapless hero as he explores lost civilizations, undersea kingdoms, prehistoric jungles and lands beyond imagination. Gasp as he battles the subhuman tribe of the Menkv and escapes the clutches of dreadful monsters! Cheer as he triumphs over impossible odds and brings socialism to the subterranean worlds! Little Orpheus is a technicolor side-scrolling adventure game inspired by classic movies like Flash Gordon, Sinbad and The Land that Time Forgot. Delivered in eight bite-size, commute-friendly episodes, Little Orpheus is simple enough for casual players but rich enough for seasoned adventure fans. If you’re a fan of old school family blockbusters, want a rollercoaster story that’ll take you to the Earth’s core and beyond, or are just in some need of ideologically correct entertainment, join the most unlikely hero to hit Apple Arcade on an adventure beyond belief. With stunning visuals, brilliant acting and a world-class score, Little Orpheus is a pocket-epic you’ll never forget. Comrades, to the center!

As far as platformers go, this one is as visually stunning as it is engaging. The imagery, mechanics, writing, and voice acting are of the caliber one might expect from a console release. The attention to quality and detail for the sake of greatness is an indication of the creator(s) and I look forward to experiencing more.

Story was interesting and entertaining.Main Character have full developed personality and feels like real human . The music background awesome, game style simple and amazing. This game extremely positive and literally made me laugh sometimes with good jokes and some Russian phrases that was used perfectly in context ( I am native Russian speaker) . Overall atmosphere was pretty warm and cozy like fairy tale book that you would read before sleep or read to your child to give him/her more positive outlook for surrounding world and encourage kid to exploring stuff around . It was wonderful experience 10 out of 10

This game is very well done and has controller support. Graphics seem better one an iPad Pro but still looks great on an iPhone 14 Plus……. I love strategy puzzle games and if you do as well try it out! 5 Stars!!!
  • Bad frame rate and touch control on iPhone

Fascinating and intriguing story but with: 1. Poor visual effects: Only supports 30fps display on the latest iPhone. Why should I twist and turn all the time with this 120hz screen to play a 30fps game? 2. Poor touch control: I understand the desire of boosting the purchase of extra controllers, but can you learn from the universal touch control of older mobile games? It’s not hard to develop and test. In this game, a naive ‘touch and hold the right half of the screen’ command can waste players decades to get the point and continue the story. Thank you.

Humorous retro Soviet flavor. A must for anyone that enjoys side-scoller games. Do yourself a favor, comrade. Very replayable.

I have absolutely no complaints about this game… except that there is not enough of it. I accidentally dropped my phone and deleted everything I was going to say in this review. The only thing I can remember is that I will never, ever forget about cousin Pavel and his egg-fueled flatulence. I promise my review was going to be much more in depth, but no, in a cruel twist of fate, everything was deleted and all I can remember now are fart jokes. Anyway, it’s 4:35 am now as I write this, so let me just cut to the chase and say that I love this game. Thank you developers!

I really liked the graphics and style of the game. Is so easy to be immersed in the game. It feels like the real thing. It said a curse word so I docked it one star.

  • Touch-Screen Controls Prevent It From Being a Good Game

Great graphics, writing, and voice acting, but the only challenge is overcoming the terrible touch-screen controls. Perhaps it’s better with a controller, but I wouldn’t know.
