  • Useful, but not flexible enough

I love the idea of this app, but I wish it were more flexible. My schedule isn’t the same week to week, and it was discouraging to get negative feedback in the Hal Says tab every time I had to shuffle my runs around. I’ll probably just go back to a paper schedule next time.

This app is amazing! I am training for my first half marathon and I wasn’t sure where to start. It was super easy to set up and put in my information, then this app came up with a plan for me to follow for everyday of the week. I was able to choose which days I needed off and which I could do my long runs. It gives instant feedback after runs and adjusts the plan accordingly. I am amazed it does this much for free!
  • Zero pace guidance

Says on the screen what your pace should be, but there’s no voice prompts in headphones telling you if you’re on pace or too fast or too slow. I guess they think runners hold the phones in front of them the entire time they run?

I use this app every year as a backup guide for my upcoming races. Helps keep me on track.
  • Suggestion

I like the app a lot. One suggestion would be to allow the user to define their running days versus cross training days. I do other sports and sometimes those workouts have prescribed days that I do them. This would be a great enhancement to the paid version.
  • Needs a little more.

I love the automated function of creating a training plan. Great features include adjusting your mileage and days you are willing to commit to. I just wish it could also implement a strength training day as an option for your training plan. Overall, good app.

I HATE having to make a game plan for my runs. I also didn’t realize I was over training. This app not only gives you a plan but allows you and your body time for recovery. I have not seen an improvement in my fitness until I started doing this app

This app is going to be a game changer for me. As a mom of 3 busy kids and going back to school I do not have the mental energy to plan workouts let alone a several month journey to my first marathon. I love how I can enter my race day, my standing rest day, the days I am available, and my goal pace. It lays it all out for me so I don’t have to. I also love the “Hal says” feature. It’s very encouraging, even when I skip a day! My race isn’t until June and it is giving me maintenance runs so I’ll be ready to start officially training in January. So the maintenance runs did not prepare me for the actual marathon training so it was a rough first couple of weeks, but I’m feeling like I’m getting stronger the more I stick to it, I just have to slow my pace down (slower than the plan recommends). Also, the cross training day is still entered as a run. For example: it asks the duration and distance. I biked for 35 minutes and went 8 miles, according to the bike. It had me double check because that pace is crazy fast. lol. It would be a nice feature to be able to enter the actual Xtraining activity. Not a big deal. I still like the app and appreciate it’s convenience.
