    For Western audiences it can be rough around the edges and hard to get the hang of. But if you are savvy and need a great tool, Marginnote is a diamond in the rough. The single best tool for annotating and working with PDFs that I can find. Automatically structures your annotations and highlight into a mindmap or whiteboard structure on an infinite canvas that you can also put pictures, videos, etc, onto, as well as just drawing on it directly. Visual bidirectional linking and an Obsidian plugin...

    There was a time where I would praise this app like crazy... but the lack of support and product ownership and direction is making me upset. You are building an amazing piece of software engineering, you need to treat your users better and be more transparent with your plans.

  • Failed Restoring of purchase

    I got a new laptop and wanted to restore my purchase but it does not work. Unfortutanely, support does not respond to my emails. Very unfortunate as I really enjoyed the app but under these circumstances I recommend to stay away from margin note. I would instead recommend to try POLAR or LiquidText. _______ Support responded

  • Great app, terrible syncing

    This is a unique app for managing and taking notes on multiple PDFs. It takes a little getting used to, but you'll figure it out. It's one of the only apps that can handle taking excerpts and annotations on a dozen PDFs at a time and organizing those notes. That said, the iCloud syncing between the desktop and iOS is possibly the worst I've ever seen. For three years now, this has been a problem and the developers keep promising to fix but it never gets fixed. I honestly don't know why. I constantly have to delete PDFs one-by-one on the Mac or the iPad that I've already deleted on the other machine. If the developers ever bother fixing this issue, it'll be a five-star rating. I think they should perhaps hurry up a bit. Other apps are catching up.

    This a great reading app that makes reading, note-taking with mind map future and reviewing in one so I like it very much. Areas for improvement includes: the voice reader seem out-dated in that it does not read while highlighting as this is already become a standard in Mac OS app wide reader; and syncing is still not as smooth it should be. For these reason, I rate 4.

  • Very helpful in organizing research

    I did the free trial for a couple of weeks and it has definitely improved my research and organization. There is definitely a learning curve. They improved some of the documentation, though it's still cumbersome. One simple thing ... to pan the mindmap you click and hold until it turns into a hand and then you can move it around (found that out by accident). Having said that, if you stick it out it is well worth it. Nothing else out there compares that I've seen.
