  • Would be nice, but …

This would be nice and I pay for a subscription. However, I’ll probably drop the subscription soon. The app keeps forgetting my password so, too often, I can’t read an article when I want to. Most frustrating.
  • No longer loads stories

Haven't been able to load articles for the past 2 months, just get an error message. I've tried contacting the app help several times but never got a response.

iPhone app, but nothing for the iPad. Weak.
  • Impossible

This is impossible to use. Send someone over to Staunton to see how the News Leader app works. Am a full subscriber to the DP but use the so-called e-edition for my visually impaired husband. It’s basically worthless. Ads foisted on paid subscribers are a deal breaker as well. He gets stuck on the annoying opening ad and can’t close it. Navigating through an article is a nightmare. I realize these are tough times for print media but at over $500/year for a full subscription, I need something better.
  • New ad screen makes this app worthless

The app only carries portions of news. The new ad screen is intrusive and annoying, since I have a paid subscription. Also ads for NRA a little disturbing. Removing app.
  • Full Screen Adds Very Annoying

2019-12-10: The ad problem has gotten even worse! When I opened the Daily Progress app this evening to read the latest news (for which we PAY an annual subscription), I was presented with a full screen video ad (apparently promoting some sort of video game and depicting a cartoon woman evidently only wearing a towel and getting ready to take a shower). This is completely unacceptable! Remove these offensive and annoying full screen ads! Previous Review: The latest version of the Daily Progress app has introduced full screen ads that pop up when trying to view a news article. The ads have a tiny x in the top left corner that you have to click to close it and view the article. We’re already paying to subscribe to this newspaper. We shouldn’t be bombarded with super shooting ads like this. The app also doesn’t remember that I am logged in and keeps requiring me to sign in for EVERY article even though moments before I signed in to view a different article.

The ads now popping up on Version 5.3 are unbelievable and unacceptable. Fix this ASAP or you will be on the TV news being ridiculed for your poor taste.
  • Good local newspaper

The DB does well in covering local events around Charlottesville. Glad to have it still in business.
  • Good local coverage.

The DP did a fine job covering the events surrounding August 12, although the NYT and the WaPo provided the most coherent coverage. I think the app is a little clunky. The sports page is separate from the rest of the news if you read the local news first. I also think that links to the other local newspapers could easily be included in relevant articles, especially since so many of them are owned by the same company. I am surprised that there are t ads on the site. It should be a revenue source.
  • Quitter

Often quits when I try to read an article.
