  • Skip this piece of garbage

I bought this because of the claims on the company’s web site and their iOS version that it supported encrypted synchronization via iCloud. After spending a couple of hours failing to get it to work I emailed the developer who responded the next day that encryption with Mac is a known issue and that they’ll fix it in the future, couldn’t/woudln't give me an estimate of when. Got a refund from apple for this piece of garbage.
  • Very disappointed

I’ve previously used Day One; however, I bought Capture 365 Journal because it offers Dropbox/iCloud syncing and data encryption, which Day One 2 does not. However, upon using Capture 365 Journal, I found that it feels disappointingly amateurish. The app is missing a lot of small, but important polish. For example, if you’ve enabled password protection, and you launch the app, the password box does not have input focus, so you need to click it before you can enter your password. In the settings, if you switch between iCloud and Dropbox cloud services, the app hangs on a “Changing sync service” spinner. There’s a “Data Encryption” checkbox that always seems to be disabled. Below it is an input box for an encryption key—instead of acting like a password field, this input box displays the key you enter in plaintext. It’s also unclear when/how the key is applied (especially considering that the “Data Encryption” checkbox always seems to be disabled). The app seems plagued by these bugs and polish issues. From a feature perspective, Capture 365 Journal is missing the ability to scroll through all entries across all years. The next/previous arrow functionality is date-based. So, unless you write every day, you wind up scrolling through a lot of empty days. Overall, this app is quite disappointing. I cannot use it as it is, so I feel that I’ve wasted $20.
  • Tons of potential…..

I have onyl been using this for about 2 weeks now. For the most part, I really like it. I have had some sync issues between devices but so far have been able to resolve them. That said, for $20 I shouldn’t have to do any extra work. The app should be consistantly reliable. Lastly, the feature I would like to see most is the ability to add a video directly from the app. Sometime I don’t want to type. I just want to vlog my day or thoughts. So, let me just click a button and do that directly. As it is now, I have to create a video outside of the app and import it in. The problem with that is A) it’s more steps B) potentially less secure if i forget to delete the video from my Mac photos library. Otherwise, it’s a good start to what I hope will be my permanant journaling tool.
  • Almost perfect. Better than Day 1 -2 for my taste. Bought them both.

I purchased 'Day One 2’ at the same time I purchased Capture 365 to compare them for my needs. Both are good journaling applicstions, each with they’re own set of limitations. After using both on my Iphone, Ipad and Macbook Air I’ve decided to use 'Capture 365'. It’s missing a couple of features that 'Day One 2’ has but for some reason I like the layout on 'Capture 365' better. Choosing applications that you like is very subjective. Everyone’s different, some may like one set of colors, layout and mechanics of the way an application works and someone else may like something different. I just like using ‘Capture 365’ better. The sync works great!,, The slideshow feature on entries is good as well. ‘Day One 2’ allows you to put photos within the journal. Capture 365 give you a slide show at the head of the entry. Both are good but I like the slide show at 2 second changes. The only feature missing that I’d like to see added is the ability to select multiple tags,,,,, at the moment you can only select 1 tag to display. I’d like to select a range that contans 2 or 3 tags,,, something that ‘Day One 2’ can do. I’ve put in a feature request. Hopefully Sockii will add that request soon as I understand they’ve had a number of requests for that feature. (Come on Sockii,,, lets have a multiple tag select feature!) OH Yeah,,,, Sockii has good good support. If you send them an email they’ll respond in a couple of days,,,, but then,,,, the developers of ‘Day One 2” responded to a question I had also. Capture 365 — Bought it,,, Like it, Use it. If you’re starting a journal you might think of purchasing both ‘Capture 365’ and ‘Day One 2’ so you can compare them. It won’t cost much for an application you may use every day. Once you decide,,, purchase the OSX app for the journal you’ll be using. (both journal applications have an OSX companion app that costs more than the iphone app.)

I switched to this app mainly because it allows for multiple photos in one entry. To my surprise I found the app performs very well and allows me to do all the things my previous app did not permit. I highly recommend it.

Bought this app because i wanted wifi synch. It worked for about a week perfectly. Then i downloaded the last update. Big mistake. Now it keeps trying to synch via Dropbox, which i have NEVER USED on any device and won’t synch to my iPhone. Tried redownloading, contacted support, etc. Tried to restore from previous backup, like waiting for the next big bang……...
  • Wonderful Layout but Application Keeps Crashing

Really, really love the layout of this application. You can all photos and videos to your journal as well as create tags so you can find entries related to specific topies. I haven’t tried syncing it yet, so I can’t speak to that. My only problem with this app right now is that every time I go to save an entry, the entire application crashes, with is a tad annoying. Luckily, it does save the post, though I do not know if it will do the same if you attach a photo or video to it—haven’t tried it yet. Hopefully they will fix that bug, and then I would give it five stars.
