One of the best investments a reader or writer can make. If you are neither I wonder why?

Always my go-to BUT…I wish the word of the day would provide a word of a higher level. A word I've never heard of so I can expand my vocabulary.

  • Issue selecting word

When selecting a word from list while searching it brings up the wrong word 90% of the time.
  • Nice but expensive

Pretty much have to buy it to make it usable since the free version is frustratingly clustered with click-through ads. $30 annually, on sale, to get rid of the ads. It’s unclear if the ads will even disappear since the subscription is actually for access to ‘other dictionaries’. Luckily purchasing a subscription did get rid of the ads, and now I guess I have access to the ‘other’ dictionaries, whatever they are. I use other dictionary apps that are (1) way better and (2) way cheaper (see Wordbook). I only purchased this one as a luxury because the NYT Spelling Bee game uses the variant spellings from Oxford’s Dictionary.
  • Scam!

I bought this years ago because OED is the only English dictionary that matters. The Americans mucked up the language starting with that traitor Noah Webster. That said all the features that even free dictionaries offer are now tied in subscription? Stupid septic wankers, the lot of you!
