I’ve now used Mapme off the grid in Cuba, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua. It never let me down!

What happened to all the maps I purchased in the past. I opened maps.me tonight and all I see is white(land), blue (water). How do I restore my purchases? There is an option to download a map of Plymouth as one of three free options. Where are my original downloads.

Used to be an OK map. Not perfect, it lacked features and had problems. Now it has been ruined even more by greed and ads. It’s an app that relies on the input of users to correct it’s map. In essence an open source map. But they want to charge as if they were carrying to cost of updating the map. Sorry but I’ll pass and I am going to delete the app. I am sticking with Google Maps. You can download the map for offline use and it’s all free.

Used to be my favorite map app for any occasions. But now looks like owner got transferred to someone else and all what they want is to make money. Those ouneers don’t even understand concept of dollar store. *NOBODY* will buy a map app just because it exists for $5 a month guys! Dollar a month might be, but $5 - no way!!! AND AS YOU SEE - THOSE “DEVELOPERS” don’t even respond to feedbacks. Awful. PERIOD.

TL;DR: Maps.me's update ruined the app with paid features and restrictions. I switched to Organic Maps, which is free, respects privacy, has no ads, and offers unlimited downloads. It's everything Maps.me used to be, but better. As a long-time user of Maps.me, I was shocked and disappointed by their recent update. What was once my go-to app for offline navigation has now become a shadow of its former self. The changes hit me hard. Suddenly, I could only download 10 maps for free. Features I'd grown accustomed to using were locked behind a paywall. The extensive offline functionality that made Maps.me my trusted travel companion? Significantly reduced. And to top it off, I found myself bombarded with ads unless I paid up. What really got under my skin was realizing that Maps.me still uses OpenStreetMap (OSM) data - a free, open-source mapping project. It felt wrong that they were now restricting access to information that's meant to be freely available. Frustrated, I started looking for alternatives and stumbled upon Organic Maps. It was like finding a long-lost friend. Organic Maps is essentially what Maps.me used to be, but even better. I can download as many maps as I want, completely free. There's no tracking, no data collection, and absolutely no ads. It's like they took everything I loved about the old Maps.me and added a strong commitment to privacy. I've now completely switched to Organic Maps, and honestly, I don't miss Maps.me at all. It's a shame to see how Maps.me has changed, but I'm grateful that alternatives like Organic Maps exist, staying true to the spirit of open-source mapping and respecting user privacy. For anyone feeling let down by Maps.me's recent changes, I recommend Organic Maps.

This used to be my favorite app. Offline maps I used for navigation and safety when hiking or traveling in the backcountry. I paid a reasonable fee for the app back then and was very happy for the value. Then it appears the app was sold. Now it’s a hefty monthly fee for all sorts of extra/unnecessary items (turn by turn navigation, restaurant reviews, hotel recommendations). Ads even if paid. Needs to get back to basics. I will be using HereWeGo instead and looking for another minimalist, offline Open Street Map app.
