  • Unskippable ad right after signing up

    What the title says. There’s no exit button for their Meetup+ subscription. Every time I restart the app it just shows up again, so the only way to get rid of it is to sign up for a free trial which is incredibly scummy. Waste of storage.

    I’ve not been on meetup in ages. I just got on and it’s impossible to navigate. Even when I signed up for the membership I was getting things I have no interest in, such as business meetings. I call those ADS. I’m not spending 60 plus dollars a year to get groups and advertisements I’m not interested in. As a matter of fact most of the meetups shown, have nothing to do with my interests. You all were much better when it was free. Now that people have show interest you charge, and you have gone downhill. Typical malignancy.

    There are hardly any groups listed in my area… decided to start one and found out why… have you seen how much it costs to actually post a meetup in here? Are you nuts? Maybe if I was hosting a meet up for hundreds of people, but it shouldn’t have a cost to plan to meet up for 5 or 10 people. Reassess your business model…

    This app gives me an error message every time I try to RSVP for an event or return to the Home Screen. I just tried deleting the app and redownloading it so see if the issue would resolved. I tried to log into the app, but I’d forgotten my password so I tried to reset it, but the app wouldn’t accept my new password, but it didn’t explain why either, so I assume it’s a bug. The app is buggy and useless. I have to rely on the desktop version to do anything.

    Can't even view local activities without paying for a weekly or yearly subscription. No way to skip this screen, no way to get past without authorizing payment or signing up for a "free" trial where they charge you after 7 days. No way to not sign up. Don't waste time downloading.

    Meetup should be the go to app/site to rebuild our communities post-Covid. Instead they fail in several ways. They are unable to provide groups and events based on your interests and information. This leads to a lot of noise and missing opportunities that are truly of interest. They have a wealth of data in their hands…and are totally clueless as to how to use it. They also send notifications that are unwanted and irrelevant…and are sent regardless of your settings. The options are no notifications at all or put up with SPAM! Unfortunately, there are no other options. They clearly know this and don’t care.

    It keeps booting out when trying to join groups or send messages to organizers… Update- it notified me in my spam mail that my profile wasn’t complete enough to join the group and I’d been rejected. I didn’t realize this until like 3 tries and then I was locked out. Wish there was a better way of communicating rejections.
