Description

AnkiMobile is a mobile companion to Anki, a powerful, intelligent flashcard program that is free, multi-platform, and open-source. Sales of this app support the development of both the computer and mobile version, which is why the app is priced as a computer application. AnkiMobile was written by the lead developer of Anki and AnkiWeb, and it has been around since 2010. Beware other apps using "Anki" in their name that have sprung up recently - they are not compatible with the rest of the Anki ecosystem, and they offer far fewer features, despite charging expensive subscriptions. Some of AnkiMobile's features include: - A free cloud synchronization service that lets you keep your card content synchronized across multiple mobile and computer devices. This makes it easy to add content on a computer and then study it on your mobile, easily keep your study progress current between an iPhone and iPad, and so on. - The same SM2 and FSRS scheduling algorithms that the computer version of Anki uses, which remind you of material as you're about to forget it. - A flexible interface designed for smooth and efficient study. You can set up AnkiMobile to perform different actions when you tap or swipe on various parts of the screen, and control which actions appear on the tool buttons. - Comprehensive graphs and statistics about your studies. - Support for large card decks - even 100,000+ cards. - If your cards use images or audio clips, the media is stored on your device, so you can study without an internet connection. - A powerful search facility that allows you to find cards that match criteria such as 'tagged high priority, answered in the last ten days and not containing the following words', and automatically place them into a deck to study. - Support for displaying mathematical equations with MathJax, and rendering LaTeX created with the computer version. - Support for adding images drawn with the Apple Pencil to your cards. Please note that AnkiMobile is currently intended as a companion to the computer version of Anki, rather than a complete replacement for it. While AnkiMobile is able to display and schedule your cards in the same way the computer version does, certain changes like modifying note types need to be done with the computer software. Add-ons are not supported, so while you can study image occlusion cards created with the computer version, they can not be created within AnkiMobile. For this reason, please start with the computer version of Anki before you think about buying this app. The cloud synchronization service is optional, and data can also be imported/exported from the app via a USB cable or AirDrop. Like all apps, AnkiMobile can be purchased once and then used on multiple devices in a household using the same Apple ID. Family sharing is also supported (apart from in India). For information on bulk discounts for educational institutions, please see Apple's Volume Purchase Program. For more information on AnkiMobile, including a link to the online manual, please have a look at the support page: https://docs.ankimobile.net/support.html. Anki is the one the best, most legendary pieces of software in history. I hope Anki begins to collaborate more closely with AnkiHub to take SRS to the next level with web based workflows, collaboration, and LLMs.

Anki is hands down the best tool I have for learning. I use it to learn things at work, languages, and for studying hobbies. This is the official Anki app. There are a lot of imposter Anki apps. Don't download those. This app has all the features of the desktop version since they're made by the same developer. It's $25 but it's a one time payment and totally worth it. It has taps and swipes to control the interface. Very customizable, and you can immediately sync between your desktop and iPhone.
  • Haptics and audiovisual feedback needed

I’m very happy to have transitioned to Anki from Quizlet. There was definitely a learning curve but it was worth it in the end. The only thing I truly miss from Quizlet is the haptic and audiovisual feedback. Probably the only reason I stuck with Quizlet for as long as I did were those features. As silly as it may sound, those features had an outsized impact on my motivation to keep doing cards during a session. It may only be me, but something about the haptic feedback for a successful Apple Pay transaction makes it oddly satisfying to part ways with my money. A haptic function would have the same effect for the Anki iOS app. I love everything about Anki but this feature is sorely needed to make the learning feel more immersive.
  • Great but

The mobile app is great excluding the ability to utilize all the resources the desktop version has to offer. But syncs with desktop so I’m able to review on the go!
  • Original author, FSRS Algorithm!

As a heads up, despite the clones, this is the real deal. The price might be a lot but it directly supports the real Anki author(s). Also, I just learned about the FSRS algorithm, got sad when I realized it was a plugin on desktop, then was super happy again when I realized you've implemented it here already after checking the release notes. Keep up the amazing work :)
  • Best Flashcard app! JUST BUY IT ALREADY.

I have been studying for the TOPIK (Korean language) and some mathematics classes for a while and using another anki flashcard app for about a year before switching over to this one about 2 months ago so I feel very comfortable in giving a full assessment and comparison between the two. First: this Anki is the original one - all other anki apps use this one’s open source code of spaced repetition. Now that we’ve covered that, let’s talk about why AnkiWeb is the one anki you should be using. This app is incredibly customizable. Every motion, movement and tap you can individually customize to your taste. Want to shake your tablet when you get the right answer to mark it as good? Change the settings! Want to make it ridiculously simple and only be able to flip the card when you touch the upper left corner? Change the setting! Just brilliantly customizable. No other anki app lets you do this much customization. Made a mistake and need to undo a card? You CAN! No other anki app lets you do this. This one also handles incredibly large decks with absolute ease and no glitches. The reason I actually began looking for another flashcard app was Mr knock off anki kept crashing once my deck reached over 500 cards. 500 cards for a language deck is TINY. By comparison my largest deck on this app is over 6,000 (plus it has sounds and drawings!) and is completely glitch free. This app also allows perfect and seamless synchronization between computer, iPhone / iPad and android! For those of you on dual operating systems or who want to switch between mobile and computer you NEED this app. Mr knockoff promises the same functionality, but as someone with an iPad, an android phone and a windows computer that is patently inaccurate. What happened most often was the iPad and computer synchronization worked, but the android app needed to be deleted, reinstalled and have the password reset every. Single. Time. I have never had a problem with this app on any device. Card Creation: This is where the power of this app shines. This is not just a simple front and back or a front and back with pictures and sound. This app lets you make amazingly customized cards. It’s too much to cover in a review, but suffice it to say there are multiple videos available that demonstrate all the ways you can make a deck work for your specific needs. There are also LOTS of premade decks so you don’t have to spend all your time making a deck someone else has already made. Medical school, languages, mathmatics, anything and everything! Price comparison : Mr Knockoff gives you 100 free cards to review a day and then locks you out of decks - even decks you have created !! - behind a paywall. You know how much that paywall is ? 24.99 PER YEAR or 50.00/ lifetime. This app is 24.99 ONCE. You also don’t have to pay for it! Are you a fellow starving student? Use the web based version to infinity and beyond FREE. Or use the android version FREE. However, I’m betting that for the lifetime of learning and functionality offered by this awesome app that 24.99 will be the cheapest and best investment in your studies you can make.
  • Just buy it

I know you’re waiting for someone to say this. Yes, it’s expensive, but if you’re really serious about learning language, consistency is key, and having Anki on your phone makes it so little effort to do your daily review compared to on PC.
  • Loaded with features

I love this app. It’s so loaded with features that you wouldn’t expect with a mobile version. It was a little confusing to use at first, especially since I had never used any thing like this. I watched tutorials mainly by Zach Highley, got me really excited about using it, especially because it’s much more efficient and effective learning method than taking notes, highlighting, rereading, if done right.
  • App is not user friendly to set up

If you are new to anki this app is not very user friendly. It should be simplified to browsing the library and downloading to the app. The shared library lets you download the file but the app doesn’t recognize it. I understand why there is no free trial, they just want your money.
  • Please correct this soon
