I am a beginning student of Italian and this app is extremely helpful. I have print dictionaries but they do not pronounce the words for me.

This app is good for vocabulary and verbs, but it needs more explanations of how the grammar works. It does have very good vocab and mistake reviews once you find out where they live on the app. Users definitely need a dictionary, an internet connection to research grammar, and also a conversation app. I use it in combination with Pimsleur which has very good explanations and forces you to converse. There is no rhyme or reason to vocabulary choices. Why do I need the word for a whale before I know how to ask for directions, a street, a bathroom? Sequencing and more than the basic grammatical information need improvement. Beware of the challenges and competitions. I find that if I let the app pull me into those, I waste time on speeding through the higher point reviews and then stop progressing with the language lessons. So—I am swearing off those!
  • Best dictionary for Italian Learners

This is the best dictionary for Italian Learners I found for ios. I don’t have much to complain as it’s awesome. Just two nitpicks: 1. I wish there was a easier way to listen to pronunciation (like a speaker icon). Currently I need to long press on the word and click pronounce button. 2. I noticed food names are missing, e.g., “porcini” or “tortellini”

I like it and use it. The fact that the dictionary gives good examples of usage puts the meaning in context. It also helps a lot with pronunciation.
