It is great for learning web development, testing snippets of code, or building entire web pages. Whisk’s integrated preview pane displays the web page live as you type. Combining the writing phase with the viewing phase clarifies the effects of your changes and speeds up the overall process of making a web page. W3C-based validation will red-underline any mistakes. It uses the same rendering engine found in Safari, so it is not only standards compliant, but also very fast. =================== Whisk is the app previously known as HyperEdit! • Such easy PHP. So fast.

Whisk is like writing PHP while the PHP is running. It’s easier that way because you can see the results of what you’re writing immediately. It’s also faster because there is no waiting. You can Paste a snippet in and see the results immediately. Hype Reflect enables you to see what you are doing in a mobile context as well. All that seeing what you are doing leads to better code, in my experience. Whisk also acts as a kind of PHP Terminal for the Mac. For example, you can write PHP code in Whisk that automates the creation of files and folders, and of course those files and folders are created on your Mac. Because all you have to do to run a PHP script in Whisk is open it, workflow automations made with Shortcuts and/or AppleScript can run PHP scripts just by asking Whisk to open the script(s). You can work in Whisk and Reflect alone, finish an entire project, deploy the code to a Web server, run it in a Web browser, and it all just works. And that whole time, no waiting.

The name "Whisk" is a bit obscure, but the program functionality is not. This is a wonderful program with instant feedback on code changes and really helpful features for debugging. It's worth every penny!
  • Just Right!

For a guy like me who writes occasional HTML but not often enough to not have to play with it, this beats starting Apatche and then dragging modified files to the Apatche documents folder in the Library and then haerd refresh of a web browser, by a mile!

Be warned, you can only read HTML documents with this unless you purchase a subscription. You know, like an average web browser allows.
  • Looks good at first glance

It is not free, to anyone getting their hopes up. It's 30 bucks after two weeks you get to see if you like it. Had about half a day using it so far, I've been looking at different text editors since my UltraEdit trial ran out and I don't feel like paying the $100 to keep it, this one is my favorite so far. Probably will make a purchase if it continues working like it is and change my rating once I get to settled. So far I'm very happy so thanks to the developers I hope you keep up the good work

Fast, simple, easy HTML/CSS editing. Preview reloads instantly, which makes tweaking my code super fast. The UI is simple and very at home on my Mac (yay for Dark Mode support). Love that there's a free trial available!

Great to see this app fully updated for Apple Silicon and Big Sur – running great on my M1 MacBook Air! Still loving this app for working on small snippets of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Since this app's preview refreshes INSTANTLY with every keystroke, it saves a surprising amount of time as you work on getting your CSS just right and feels refreshingly lightweight.
