I subscribed to Google One for the VPN, so where is it, Google? 😡

I received a charge this month for Google One. I’m an iCloud user and have no use for Google One. I did not sign up for it and followed the instructions for canceling, but unable to successfully complete the transaction as there is no identifiable cancel button under management plans tab in the application which I had to download to be able to fulfill the cancel requirement.

The main reason for purchasing google one was that it included VPN. On Jun 20 VPN was removed with no prior notification. What a service!

You can’t sell a year long subscription with a VPN featured as part of the core product then cancel the VPN mid-contract and offer no refund. This would be like Amazon removing the free shipping feature from Prime. Google keeps becoming a worse and worse company by the day.

Bring back the VPN was half the reason I paid for the subscription!!

I decided to cancel the “free” premium trial after learning from support it applies only to the family manager, and not to the family plan members. There is no way to turn off AI Premium (includes Gemini Advanced “Help Me Write” email feature). I made that mistake today. Now I am paying twice as much a month ($20) until I can migrate all of my backup and storage to an alternate vendor so I can cancel. I worked with Google support for half an hour to find a solution. Not a good day.

Why was I charged $9.74 for a free trial?
