Description

Based on Colin Thiele's 1964 children’s book of the same name, Storm Boy takes place on the beaches of South Australia near the mouth of the Murray River, where the titular protagonist rescues orphaned pelican chicks, one of whom later becomes the child’s pet and faithful companion, Mr. Percival. Experience an interactive retelling of the classic tale by taking control of both Storm Boy and Mr. Percival in key moments, such as when the pair rescued stranded sailors during a storm. Relive their friendship and enjoy seaside activities across a wide assortment of fun and relaxing mini-games, including sand drawing, sailing, cockle hunting, playing fetch, sand surfing, pelican feeding, and more.

Nice graphics and story line but didn’t even last a hour. The swimming takes you to the same scenes over and over, the cockle collection is boring. BORING.

I was surprised this was such a short interactive game. I am disappointed, I expected more. I should have read the reviews.
  • Spoiler: Sweet, dead bird!

Are you serious!? The bird is shot!? SHOT! Dead. First of all the game/story didn’t take very long. It was sweet and I enjoyed every second of it until: the bird is murdered! This is NOT for children. Or this adult.
  • Not really a game

I didn’t understand that this is an interactive story and not a game. Beautiful for what it is. Not a fun or challenging game.
  • Not very good

Very short and not very interesting. Very sad story that is best left to a book.

It’s just so sad. I cried at the end and could not stop. This is a heartwarming story. Don’t listen to the haters. This is a work of art. But it is short. I recommend stretching the plot. But other than that it’s beautiful. Beyond words.😭😭😭
  • The game was great

The game was super fun it had a great story! But I did not know that the game would finish in less than 30 min and that’s all. If it was free then it would’ve been great but I spent 2.99 on this 30 min game! Not that happy!
  • Fantastic visuals and story

Clearly the people reviewing this game expect everything they put on their phone to take 1000 hours of grinding to “level up” and have an ad appear for 15 seconds after every other move. THIS GAME IS NOT THAT. It is a terrific adaptation of a classic story. And even though you can easily finish it even if you’re *not* a hard core gamer, that’s totally fine! To all the two-star reviewers: there’s more (much more) to the gaming genre than grinding for hours on treadmill levels and watching ads like they’re cut scenes. Kudos to folks involved in making Storm Boy!
  • Like stop action movements NO LONGER!

As of 12/8/2018 Developers have fixed my problem on my iPad Air. I can happily say this is the loveliest and serene story in the App Store. I had not heard of this story/book from Australia. The story was short but I feel full of plenty enough interactive portions to keep me interested all the way through. I am not sure what ages this story is aimed for but the end is a bit rough for small kids. Beautifully done. Changing my initial 1 Star ⭐️ to a 5 star ⭐️ rating. Congrats to the heart behind this game. ********Game looks awesome but it starts strangely, white screen then the title page does load but there is no fluidity in the plants, water etc. The sounds of the few footsteps I could haphazardly cause the boy to take (meaning no instructions on how to get the boy across the screen) do not match the steps. Sound is off. I could not advance the game smoothly because it acted like it was frozen on and off, back and forth. I restarted my iPad, cleared the back pages, deleted the game, reinstalled the game. No change. I’m bummed. Help UPDATE- development team has assured me they are working hard on the problem and should have an update for us soon.
  • This isn’t a game

I finished this story in 10 minutes, it’s not even worth $1, nothing happens at all, there’s 0 game play, unless you enjoy useless but calming mini games in which nothing actually happens. You walk around and you can swim, but nothing actually happens in this game, it’s an interactive story. But the story doesn’t change at all based on the player
