Hey you guys remove audio language change option

They finally made the AirPlay function usable rather than being forced to screen mirror because AirPlay wouldn’t connect but now when using AirPlay you no longer see subtitles that you have when just streaming on your phone, defeats the entire purpose and now I can’t use screen mirroring to watch either. All this casually after getting a notification that they’re raising prices. Love the shows and don’t want to lose the access but it’s making it really hard to stick around.

Although HIDIVE recently updated the apple tv app version to remove obvious bugs like inability to start video without starting/pausing a couple of times - there is one absolutely annoying bug that remains. When watching series - each new episode starts from some random part of the video and I have to manually scroll to the beginning. Manual scrolling is another type of torture, there’s no button to start from the beginning and there is no way to quick-rewind. Their app essential purpose is to show video to users. And it fails miserably to do it right.

While it appears that HIDive has some interesting content (5 total shows of interest), the app is one of the jankiest I’ve ever come across. Most of the 3 functions do not work. Yes, there are only 3 functions and only 1 of them actually work. It’s not really worth getting into the details, suffice to say, it is not very good. The watchlist is broken, thus you cannot add any shows to it. The slider to choose shows is wonky and slips onto the wrong show often; causing the user to restart the search to for the actual show they attempted to watch. Add that the entire app crashes on AppleTV every 6th time you click on anything, and the fact that many shows appear as ‘no content’, when you click on them. It’s just bad. See ‘watchlist’ comment above…as this means you have to start a full scrolling search all over again, while hoping the scroller doesn’t choose a different show again, to restart the process (which ultimately causes the app to crash). Honestly; this app doesn’t deserve 1 star. It’s just beyond broken and from what I see of other comments, it remains broken. This app reminds me of my 9 year old making their first app. Except this one is charging money for what appears to be an app created by a distracted child. This app is not ready for market by any means.

After the much-needed update, the app is now functional enough that I’m okay using it instead of the (also-updated) website. Unfortunately the update has a number of annoying issues that appear to be bugs from the rewrite, and when they’re fixed, I will move the rating to 4 stars, maybe even 5. There are two critical problems for me right now: 1) the lack of text titles for series in the Home Screen and in the watchlists, it looks like the watchlists at least are intended to have them in the huge empty middle column, but right now you have to squint at the thumbnail images to figure out which line belongs to which series (the new website watchlists even lacks the thumbnails); 2) it looks like the watched status for each episode is missing and not being updated even after episodes are watched, making it very hard to tell where I am in the various series. Lesser issues: 3) my main queue doesn’t seem to be anywhere on the app’s Home Screen anymore, instead requiring me to click the hamburger button to access my watchlists, and 4) there doesn’t seem to be any indication for tracking new/unseen episodes as they are added to the server. The addition of skip forward and reverse buttons was a critically needed feature, and I’m reasonably happy with the 30s skip size. I don’t personally have much need for custom watchlists here on HIDIVE, since I only follow a few series here, but I do make use of the similar feature on Crunchyroll, so it’s in the “nice to have it” category. The overall appearance feels cleaner (possibly a little too much so), and I’m not unhappy with it unless the omission of text titles for series is an actual intended UI choice, not just a bug. I’m particularly worried about this on the Home Screen; the icons there just aren’t enough to tell me which series is what.

So they increased prices by a dollar which isn’t awful but they are removing content and barley have new simi casts they can’t even justify why they are doing this. They are also trying to add an ad tier option which would be fine if they had more content available on their platform.

I have been really happy with the update to the overall system, but some of the issues are how the playback system has been feeling like a downsize. I can’t turn off subtitles on the Roku variation, and when searching for shows when I hover over them, I can’t see the title of the show, still talking about the Roku variation. Of course I’m only combining these two because the update happened across the entire system of devices. PS sorry for the rant. I’m not good at writing reviews.

La razón por la que escribí esto es por qué si van a aumentar el precio de la suscripción por favor saquen subtítulos al español latino en el idioma japonés espero que alguno de ustedes les y esto y por favor espero que en un futuro cercano vuelvan a traer su servicio de streaming de anime acá a latinoamerica o que hagan una colaboración con Crunchyroll para que podamos ver algunos de los éxitos de los que obtuviste la licencia gracias por leer.
