The only real difference is this feature. And it’s very important feature considering how most people will want to download at some point. Unfortunately you’re stuck with the new version as the old version is not available for purchase anymore.

Great features, I use all the time and a super good app
  • Flaky Altitude Gain/Loss

This app consistently underreports how much altitude gain I have on hikes. On a recent hike it reported a roughly accurate gain of 530 ft. at the top of a ridge but as I started to descend the total reported altitude gain decreased to 414 ft. then remained constant all the way back to the trailhead. The cumulative altitude gain/loss on the trail from the guide was 630 ft on this out and back trail so the app underreported by about 35%. I otherwise love this app but it seems to always underreport altitude change.

Can’t create an account, can’t sign in. Messsge is unclear what I’m doing wrong. Outside screwed this app up.
  • Bugs

I feared Gaia QC would go down with recent changes. And it did. Routes you work on for hours go missing, trails go missing unexpectedly even online mode then also comes back unexpectedly. Gaia can not be trusted anymore.
  • No customer service

I can’t log in and there’s no customer service to talk to. There should be customer service if I’m paying for an app.
  • I just want to find hikes near me. That’s all.

Hello. I am vocationally Oly a UX UA designer and I can’t figure this app out. I understand that if I know my the name of my hike or the address, and I can download the map it’s going to be fantastic. But all I want to do is find hikes that are near my area. I am new to the state. What hikes are around me? I thought this app could help. But I’ve now spent an hour and a half on YouTube trying to figure it out and I’m convinced that there must be another resource for this. Potentially printed book? It would be an easy fix to include hike locations highlighted on the map (if you CAN do this, I can’t discover anyway on the interface, or in a video to do it). Or, enable to filter the “near me” search results to sort by distance to my location. You know where I am, because I turned on location settings for the app. All of the recommended near near me hikes don’t have any information about how far away they are. All I get is a list of “recommended” and I can click on each one, open it, zoom out the map and then be like “good grief that’s far!” I know that there are beautiful hikes around Seattle, but I don’t want to drive for 90+ minutes to get to a hike. I want to know what’s nearby. I already spent my 90+ minutes trying to figure out this app. If I do locate a hike, perhaps I’ll be back.

Doubled price without adding any useful new features. This was my go to trail app but I am done.
  • Way better than Garmin handheld (if you have cell service)

Really great app - very easy to use, especially if you’ve used a hiking GPS in the past. You just have to start your track by hitting “record” and then click the Map button and zoom in. Excellent!
